HELP

INSTALLATION/SIGNING UP

To play Red Dragon 3inabed, you need to download and install some software from here. This is a 20Mb file which you need to save to your hard-drive. When you have downloaded, double-click the file, and follow the installation instructions. Next, run the 3inabed software and a login screen will appear. To login, you will require a nickname and password. If you don't have one, click the Sign Up button, read and accept the Terms and Conditions and fill in the requested information. That's it - you're now ready to login and play darts! If, at any time, you forget your nickname or password, enter your email address at the login screen and click the Send It button. Now you have your nickname and password, type them in and click the Login button.

LOBBY

The lobby shows you lots of statistical information and provides several options. A 3inabed season starts at midnight on the 1st of each month and ends at midnight on the last day of each month (UK time). Your current season statistics are shown here, including the all-important average Ranking Points - it's these points that determine where you are positioned in the Full League Table (which can also be seen here). See further down this page for information on how points are awarded.

LET'S PLAY DARTS

You have 2 choices. You can click Join Waiting List and wait for other players to challenge you, or you can select a player from the list of players online and click Challenge Selected Player. You must be on the Waiting List in order to challenge another player.

If you are on a LAN, be it at home or in an office, you may have trouble. You will often find that your local IP address is different to that which you utilise for the internet. In the bottom right hand corner of the lobby there are 2 options: "Use Internet IP" and "Use Local IP". If you want players from the internet to challenge you, use the first option and ensure that the data from port 4871 of your router is automatically forwarded to port 4871 of your LAN IP address - your router should have a virtual server option to configure this. If there are others on the LAN trying to play the game, then this may cause problems. If however, you are inside a LAN and want someone else inside the LAN to challenge you, then select the second option. Of course, in this case, nobody from the internet will be able to challenge you.

Playing the game is simple! Use your mouse to move the crosshair, and aim at the board. Left click where you want to hit, and a moving yellow target will appear. When the target is at it narrowest, Right click. Then, when the target is at it's shortest, Left click again. Good luck.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does the game "hang" occasionally?

3inabed makes regular calls to a central server. This relies on your network connection and the other players connections working well - it may be that someone has a slow connection. Slow connections may also cause the dart to "hang" in mid-air.

I ran the game, but it says "3IAB World League is already running." Why?

May be it didn't close down properly last time you ran it. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and go to the processes tab. Right click on the 3IABWL.exe process and end it.

The game reset for no apparent reason. Why?

It could be because your opponent's network connection stopped working.

I am on the list but nobody ever challenges me. Why?

Could be because they can't connect to you. You might be on a LAN or have a firewall which is blocking people. Players need to be able to talk to you on port 4871. If you have Windows XP you may have a firewall running and not know it. Click on Start, then Control Panel, then Network Connections; then right click on your internet connection and select properties; then go to the Advanced tab and you can disable your firewall here - we suggest you use a more configurable firewall such as ZoneAlarm. Remember that without a firewall in place, your computer is at greater risk from hackers.

Most anti-virus software has an option for protecting against internet "worms". The trouble is. that Norton (for instance) assumes that anything receiving network traffic, and not appearing on their list of approved applications, might be a worm. Of course, 3IABWL sends and receives network traffic, and of course, it is not a worm. You must therefore configure your anti-virus software to permit 3IABWL.exe. In Norton, you do this through Internet Worm Protection -> Program Control. You must add 3IABWL.exe and select "Permit All".

If you have a router then you need to ensure that data from port 4871 of your router is forwarded to 4871 of your computer using the virtual server option or DMZ in the configuration menu of your router - normally you can reach the configuration menu by typing 192.168.1.1 in your web browser address box.

For help with configuring your router / firewall, Portforward.com is an excellent site.

The World Tour works on a rotating ranking points system. Points are taken in to consideration for the last 18 tour events plus the last 7 standard events.

League positions are based on the following ranking points system:

(percentage of games won X 2) + 3 dart average + style points average

Style points are awarded as follows:

50 for beating someone within 10 points of you
40 for beating someone within 20 points of you
30 for beating someone within 30 points of you
20 for beating someone within 40 points of you
10 for beating someone within 50 points of you

50 for a 9 darter
40 for a 10 darter
30 for a 170 finish
20 for a 167, 164 or 161 finish
10 for a 180

In the interests of making this darts game enjoyable for all, there is a slow play rule. Each player gets 45 seconds to throw each dart. This is plenty of time as most pros release all 3 darts in 20 to 30 seconds! If you fail to shoot within that time, you will be disqualified.

Contestants may only participate using ONE account in any given season. This is to avoid the manufacturing of results.

Contestants found to intentionally quit whilst in the middle of a game will be eligible for a ban, the length of which will be at the discretion of the 3inabed team.

3inabed provides text-based chat functionality. 3inabed is proud to be a small part of one of the most popular and far-reaching sports in the world. It is proud that the lady and gentlemen professionals that provide us with such wonderful entertainment do so in a competitive but respectful manner. As a contestant in this league you should consider yourself a bit-part player in this fantastic sport, and should therefore conduct yourself in the same competitive but respectful manner. Abuse of any kind, be it foul language, racism, sexism or any other unpleasant thing, is not welcome. 3inabed will not hesitate to ban people who indulge in such abuse. The league is here for all people of all ages to enjoy.

In the case of disputes, 3inabed.com's decision will be final.

COMPETITION

It is against the rules of 3inabed to compete in or organise any un-official tournament or league whilst an official 3inabed tournament is running. That is to say, that there is no objection to the use of 3-IN-A-BED for unofficial tournaments and leagues, however, if they coincide in any way with official tournaments, the organiser(s) and participants may be liable for suspension or expulsion from 3inabed membership. This rule applies even when official tournaments are announced at short notice.

Rules may be subject to change at any time without warning.
